About the Albums
Grey records at his Grey Havens Studios in Enid, Oklahoma.
All albums are copyright Grey Way Publishing (ASCAP), and are self-released by Grey, with distribution by cdbaby.com.
All album covers and art were designed by D. "Wappy" Lang, with the exception of Grey's Christmas Memories, designed by Grey.
Words & Music
Words & Music is Grey's sixth studio album, recorded at his Grey Havens Studios, featuring Jason Harbour (Solo guitar on "September), Mikey Harbour (keyboard and synthesizer), Patrick Costello (percussion), Steve Harwood (piano), and Kelsey Stark (background vocals).
From the liner notes:
"This project started two years ago with Patrick laying down drum tracks. It has taken more time and been given more time in order to breathe. As concerns the songs, they are stories and political statements and societal observances. They are also fact and fiction."
Anamnesis
A concept album following the lives of one family across 65 years.
Recorded in 2003/2004 with musicians Jason Harbour, Patrick Costello, Mark Dorman, and Mikey Harbour, at Grey Havens Studios.
Mixed and Mastered at Db Studios with Dave Skinner.
Rock & Pop
The original Rock & Pop, Grey's sophomore studio
effort, was recorded in 2001-2002 at Champagne
Studios. The entire process was filmed as an
award-winning "Let it be-esque" television documentary
series, "Grey: The Rock & Pop Sessions."
The track
"This is the Time, This is the Place" reached #4 on
the Psychedelic charts at mp3.com, and the music
videos for it, "Enough for me Tonight" and "Addiction"
took home Best Music Video at the Bare Bones
International Film Festival. During this time, Grey
was featured as Artist of the Week at radio station
KUAL, and interviewed to promote the album.
Grey saw
the death of mp3.com as an opportunity to re-record the album in 2004
at his Grey Havens Studios in a more leisurely fashion
not provided to him with the original recordings.
These recordings also feature the talents of Jason
Harbour, Mike Harbour, Kevin Bunch, and Stephen
Harwood. The album is an equal blend of rock and pop
styles that are an enjoyable listen all the way
through.
Colours
Grey says, "I began writing songs in 1981 while in high school.
The songs have changed some since written and I have often debated the various forms of them
I have created but these are the shapes I found to represent them the best.
I was living in Toulouse, France at the time that I originally recorded Colours. I met Yvan M. when I moved to Toulouse
and he needed someone to sing in English for his Milo project. It was Yvan and J.C. that gave alot of their time
and effort to put the 10 songs down into a working format."
All songs written by Grey. Original recording, Produced and Engineered by
Grey & "Doc" Mirouse.
Recorded & Mixed during the Summer & Fall 1993 at Studio Queenriver and at Filataires' Cellar in Toulouse France.
Re-recorded in 2004 with musicians Jason Harbour, Mikey Harbour, Kevin Bunch, and Steve Harwood at Grey Havens Studios.
Mixed and Mastered at Db Studios with Dave Skinner.
Faded Colours I & II
Faded Colours and Faded Colours II are CD's that represent music written and recorded prior to the Colours CD, (1981-1992) They are offered as a history, or a musical evolution.
The original February mp3.com 2001 release contained only two studio recorded songs, "Farewell to Arms" and "Emotional Baggage (Song for a Broken Glass). The remaining tracks were recorded on a multi-track home studio and were sketches of songs in some cases and finished to a greater degree in other cases.
At Grey Havens, Grey re-recorded and re-released Faded Colours as a double-disc set in 2005.
Grey's Christmas Memories
In the winter of 2005, Grey released a Christmas album, featuring instrumental versions of classic Christmas songs.
Live at Pegasys
Originally released on mp3.com in 2001, the "Live at Pegasys" CD contained the Pegasys TV performance, including the "Q and A" section and interviews
from the band members Grey used to bring his music to life or rather to "live". It is not the best possible live performance but given the time Grey had to prepare the material into a live format and in which Jason, Mike and Zane were asked to perform material which they had never heard, let alone performed, it is nice.
Acoustic Grey
Released in 2002 on mp3.com, "Acoustic Grey" was a recording of the September 28th, 2002 "A Fling At The Springs" acoustic performance.
Grey & Jason Harbour performed acoustic versions of tracks off Grey's 2 studio albums, Rock & Pop and Colours.
The performance was filmed and aired on Pegasys in a 1 hour special also called "Acoustic Grey." This CD is not to be confused with the 2006 project also entitled Acoustic Grey, which features songs and videos recorded on November 8th, 2006 at Db Studios.
Elixir: The Better and the Worse
Released on mp3.com in 2002, The Better and the Worse was a compilation of songs from Elixir, that Grey played lead guitar in during high school.
